Book Vs. Movie Podcast

"The Devil Wears Prada"

In this episode of "Book Vs Movie" the Margos take on the Lauren Weisberger novel "The Devil Wears Prada" which was turned into a smashing success of a movie due largely to the actors performances.

In it we discuss:

  • The key difference between the novel and the film (what worked and what doesn't)
  • The fact that none of Andi's friends seems to understand the concept of working hard at your first job,
  • Margo's Anna Wintour encounter at the Met with Puff Daddy (as he was known then) rehearsing in the background
  • Plus spoilers, spoilers and more spoilers

Finally someone took the time to talk about the differences between the Jacqueline Susann classic novel & camp classic 1967 film. In this episode we examine and dissect the differences between both and we cover:

 Sharon Tate's performance

The clothes

1960s feminism

Susan Hayward

Patty Duke's singing style

The men in both

Which did we like better--the book or movie?

Whoo Boy! Where to begin? The Book Vs Movie podcast tackles Ira Levin's classic 1972 thriller "The Stepford Wives,"  the 1975 film adaptation which was pretty amazing and the totally stinky 2004 redo that starred Nicole Kidman.

This is a freewheeling discussion about everything from feminism to 1970s fashion to the missed Martha Stewart parody from Frank Oz.

Joanna Eberling moves from the dirty but "oh so alive" city to the suburbs at the urging (demand) of her lawyer husband only to find out she is going to be replaced by a robot that loves sex and laundry.

Warning to the grumpy population... spoilers and personal anecdotes are littered throughout this podcast!

You may never hear the Austin Powers line "Send in the Fembots" in the same way again.
