Book Vs Movie
“The Shawshank Redemption” (Replay)
The Margos Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of this
Classic Film
If there is one thing we can say about Book Vs Movie fans--they LOVE the Stephen King eps and cannot get enough of them. In particular, we have been getting requests for The Shawshank Redemption since we launched the show and finally had the time to get it together.
The story of the bromance between Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) and Red Redding (Morgan Freeman) is considered one of the best movies of all time and has continually been on syndicated TV since its debut on the TNT network in June 1997. (Seriously, this movie is always playing on some channel somewhere!)
Unjustly convicted for the murder of his wife and her lover Andy spends decades of his life fighting to clear his name while learning to adapt to life as a prisoner. It’s a story about friendship, survival, revenge, deception, agony, and redemption.
Originally published as a novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption in 1982’s Different Seasons the differences between the original story and the movie are plentiful. So which did the Margos like better? Book or Movie? Check out the link below to find out!

Stephen King Bonus Ep
With Deana Marie (Twisted Philly)
IT: Chapter 2
It’s time for another Stephen King Bonus ep and Margo D. is joined by Deana Marie of the Twisted Philly podcast to talk about the Andy Muschietti film that is a follow-up to the mass success of the 2017 first chapter which is one of the most successful horror films of all time.
Chapter 2 follows the adult members of “The Losers Club” as they return to Derry, Maine to take on Pennywise the Clown one more time. How much of the original 1986 IT novel is featured in the movie? Why is it almost three hours long? Do we like the adult casting? All of this is discussed and more.
Two years ago, Margo & Deana disagreed on how they felt about the first chapter. What do they think about the sequel? You will have to listen below to find out.

Book Vs Movie
The Maltese Falcon
Dashiell Hammett’s 1930 dark novel Vs the 1941 Bogart film noir classic
This episode is the stuff that dreams are made of with the Margos talking about The Maltese Falcon which was written by Dashiell Hammett originally in five parts in Black Mask magazine in 1929 and later became the first film directed by John Huston and starring a 42-year old Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade.
The story begins with private detective Sam Spade who along with his partner Miles Archer metts the lovely “Miss Wonderly” who hires them to find out is her sister has run off with a gentleman named Floyd Thursby. Archer and Thursby are soon killed and Sam is the suspect.
In this intriguing tale, we also meet Effie Perrine, Joel Cairo, and Casper Gutman and learn about a Maltese Falcon that jewels from the King of Spain who was captured by pirates. It was coated in black enamel to hide its value.
But who is lying and who is on the side of truth? The peppy mystery and old-timey San Francisco setting keep the audience guessing until the end. This is a fun ride with a super-exciting film to match.
